Last week I had the unique opportunity of attending L’Oreal‘s holiday party and spring 2012 preview event. It was a great night filled with cocktails, delicious food, great company and of course, A LOT of new beauty products.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at the L’Oreal event (held at the C5 Restaurant at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto) was just how spectacular the room really was. Overlooking the city of Toronto, the room reminded me of something you would see in Architectural Digest with it’s sleek lines and modern furniture.

With a glass on pink champagne in hand, I set out on the task at hand: find out about, and test, as many of L’Oreal’s new springĀ 2012 products as possible. With over 100 new products and shades, L’Oreal has a lot to offer Canadian beauty junkies this spring. Here are just a few of my favourite items from the collection:

L’Oreal‘s new line of Volume Collagen hair care products ‘deliver weightless, amplified 24 hour volume and anti-flat care’. Using collagen to help plump and smooth hair, L’Oreal introduces a new Volume shampoo, conditioner, body boost spray and hairspray.

With the popularity of L’Oreal‘s Colour Riche lipstick, the company plans to introduce over 20 new shades this spring. Like all of L’Oreal Colour Riche line, the new shades contain Argan Oil and Omega 3 which help keep the lips moisturized and soft.

To compliment L’Oreal‘s line of Colour Riche lipsticks, the company is also launching a line of lip liners that contain an anti-feathering formula, perfect for more mature lips. These lipliners also contain Omega 3 to help hydrate and soften lips.

The most buzzed about product of the night was L’oreal‘s first lip balm, Le Balm. Le Balm, which comes in eight sheer shades, has an SPF of 15 and claims to keep lips hydrated for 8 hours. Le Balm contains Argan Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Muscat Rose Oil which all work to give lips a smooth and supple appearance.

With the amazing success of L’oreal’s Infalliable Eyeshadows, launched in the summer of 2011 (it became the number one selling eyeshadow in Canada after only four weeks), the company introduces seven new colours to the line including four completely matte and three gold toned shades. Like the originals, these shadows are water and crease proof, intensely pigmented and claim to last for 24 hours. I’ve personally had a chance to play around with these shadows and let me tell you, they are truly amazing!

L’Oreal has taken their super popular Voluminous mascara to the next level by introducing Voluminous False Fiber Lash, a mascara that contains fibers that mimic the shape of lashes giving the lashes a volumized and lengthened, false-lash appearance.

Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner is the first ‘kajal-like’ eye pencil sold in drugstores. Kajal, a ‘rich black ingredient that has an intensity that is noticeably deeper’ gives the eyes a dramatic, sexy and smoky appearance. This type of eyeliner first became popular in Indiana, and I am so happy to see it hitting the shelves here in Canada.

As if the delicious food, fruity cocktails and gorgeous atmosphere weren’t enough, L’Oreal was kind enough to send me home with a gift bag filled with some of their new Spring 2012 products. I have been testing them out, and can’t wait to further review some of my new beauty goodies. If you would like to see a more extensive review on any of the items included in the gift bag, be sure to leave a comment and let me know.
